All I want is a league where the rules are simple are generally followed and evenly enforced. Every time someone breaks a rule it becomes a big to do abouttheir history in the league and their reputation for playing fair and how unfair the rules are.

It's the last point that tends to be the point of contention. If everyone knows the rules and agrees to them at the outset, I'm just baffled at how their application can be unreasonable or unfair. There's only 1 game I know of where the players are constantly changing the rules as the game goes along. It's my team's namesake.

People who think the rules should just be applied to all (in the past, that's generally truffle, abuck, and me) are considered mean or jerks or worse for wanting a simple application of the rules to the violation. I'm sorry you were gone or raw was away from his computer or whatever the case is. But the result was those teams had an extra player or more on their roster. Even if that player doesn't get into the lineup that's an advantage (if it weren't, there would be no roster limit rule). There should be a consistently applied penalty for that violation, imo. There's no judgment being rendered about the person or their ability as a fantasy manager. Its strict liability - break this rule, get this penalty. Same for everyone. That consistency makes it fair for all.

Some managers don't appear to want that system. They prefer to apply the rules ad hoc based on the willingness of the commish to enforce them and/or other teams to complain. That isn't fair to me.

Abuck said he was going to just apply the rules across the board in all cases. He hasn't actually done that but those with illegal lineups have at least lost their matchups. Hopefully there isn't a points issue with tiebreakers at the end.

I have no issue with you Juan and haven't at all until you sort of laid into me in the chat when you found out about the penalty. Maybe I was in the wrong place at the wrong time but whatever. I brought it up here bc it was relevant to the discussion raw and I were having. I overdid it bc you again seemed to have a personal issue with me (calling me argumentative, the whole "not listening" thing which is such a weird attack to me). I thought you were out of line so I ramped it up in response.

Real talk: your explanation made no sense to me. If the real explanation was "oops I forgot to drop a guy" then that is somewhat frustrating but makes sense. I can't wrap my head around the justification you used. The fact that you seemed to stick by it despite the lack of reason annoyed me. Thus I mentioned it in a mocking manner. I don't believe I attacked you in doing so. I understand people have different views on whether a joking barb is an "attack." Guess I'm not perfect. Not sure if that's what you're referring to but that's all it was for me.

Alright Jeff, I apologize where I've been a jerk. I agree rules should be applied evenly. I also agree its a complicated league and the site isn't able to adequately support it (though its better than most). I can assure you I was just honestly confused.

You don't think not allowing points at all for a 4-man bench is a brash, over-the-top decision? Missing your first pick if you didn't pay by a certain day was over-the-top.

And automatically taking away points for a 4-man bench is making it a case by case basis. Because like your situation had to be reviewed to show you were just trying to avoid going over 7 starts.

Anyway, I wasn't talking about Juan's situation specifically, just speaking in general terms. The biggest issue with this league for the last 3-4 years has been that half the league checks their team for a few minutes every day. The other half doesn't check as much. But the half that doesn't check as much constantly receives bitching from the ones that do. This is supposed to be fun. But all that is ever done is people bitching about the rules (how, where and why) and bitching about why people aren't active. It's why the turnover rate in this league has increased every year for the last 5 years. And [expletive] like this isn't helping.

I couldn't take it anymore and thus I left after 10 years. I blame 1/2 on CBS, 1/4 on a league that doesn't have 16 active managers, and another 1/4 on well, let's just say lack of uniformity in enforcing the rules or going overboard when doing so. Not sad that I didn't come back. I see nothing has changed.

Hey why don't I check in on that league that I hated so much that I left.

Because I have friends in this league still and I'm interested in seeing how things are going on a Monday that I have nothing to do but tend to the smoker. Why do you care? I didn't badmouth you. No reason for such a dickish post when I just happened to mention why I left.

Bc you jumped into a discussion that's been dead for a week with input that isn't relevant. Asking why you'd pipe up now isn't being a dick though it's not surprising that you'd adopt such a tone.

You left the league. You come back several weeks in to a new season and badmouth the league and some members (though without saying their names) and then call someone a dick. Again I question what your purpose is. Checking on a league that your friends are in doesn't justify your posts.

I badmouthed it?????? Show me where? Show me when I've ever badmouthed anyone other than Adam last year. You have some major hostility problems. As a member of this forum, I'll post whenever I want without being questioned by you as to why I'm doing so, but thanks for being so concerned about me.

He had to wait until Monday for the discussion to clear waivers.
