Figured there needed to be a thread for this

Marlins mad they don't have an all-star in the game:

http://hardballtalk.nbcsports.com/2012/07/08/marlins-upset-they-dont-have-an-all-star/

The Marlins lost their lone All-Star when Giancarlo Stanton‘s knee injury caused him to be replaced Saturday, and they’re steamed that another Marlin wasn’t picked to replace him.

“I just think that all teams are supposed to be represented and if our guy had to have surgery, he had to have surgery,” team president David Samson said.

Samson does have a point, though: all teams are supposed to be represented in the game and now the Marlins aren’t. It would have made a lot of sense to put Jose Reyes on the squad. He’s a legitimate star, at least, and the NL team had already replaced an injured shortstop (Ian Desmond) with an outfielder (Michael Bourn).

Reyes? No way. I really don't see anyone else on the Marlins team that is having an All-Star type season or even close to it. Steve Cishek is having a solid year out of the bullpen, but that's really about it as far as I can see. Ruggiano is a badass but I don't think he has played enough this year to warrant an AS selection.

I'm actually kind of looking forward to the derby tonight. I think it might be a coming out party for Trumbo.

Strange, but I for one am a little bit more excited this week because it's taking place in KC at Kaufman. I really don't care much at all about the Royals, but it's kind of nice seeing a great stadium and fans that are a bit forgotten get showcased. I am a lifelong Southerner, but after the Yankees/Red Sox getting crammed down our throats, a great Midwest baseball town is a welcome change...that's not St. Louis.

The "one player per team" requirement is dumb if the game's result is home field advantage in the WS.

as is the unwritten little league-ish rule about getting everyone in the game no matter what.

Participation trophies for everyone! Then they can all celebrate with Ritz Bits and juice boxes!

Chris Berman has aged at least 15 years since 2010, and his Florida retiree tan somehow makes it worse.

The fact that the Cubs are not represented in this photo makes me very happy.

I'm having trouble picking out the missing team though, there's 26 mascots there and I know the Cubs, Red Sox, and Yankees are not represented. Is it the Ddogers? Angels?

I guess that is a Red Sox hat on that thing, and to think I thought they were better than that.

EDIT: After looking more closely, I can be sure the Cubs and Yankees aren't there, and the Red thing next to the Rockies Dinosaur is either the Angels, Dodgers, or Reds, and the other two aren't in the picture.

Twins mascot is the bear next to the Oriole, you can see his jersey. The rabbit/beaver looking thing next to the Pittsburgh parrot is Houston.

And to finish off the mystery, that Red thing next to the dinosaur is from Cincinnati, which means the Cubs, Yankees, and both LA teams are the 4 without mascots.
