Hopefully, it looks quite a bit different on July 31st, than it does on July 13th. By the way, piecing together the comments from the BA chat today, right now, we probably have 3 top 50 guys. But Brett may fall completely out of the top 100, and it doesn't seem like Szczur or Vitters gets in either. If Candelario doesn't make it on either, we'll certainly need some help at the deadline to make it into the top 10 systems, by them.

100 in Des Moines

99 in Peoria

94 in Dunedin, FL

Can't wait to see the game time temps in the AZL at 7 pm.

Chicago hit 103 today. It's 8:35pm and it's still 95.

Pretty miserable, I got the means to air condition one room effectively, and I'm staying in that one room as much as I can when home.

Nice outings from Zachs in Peoria. Love seeing no walks from Cates. I think Rosscup is ready for Daytona.

Unless they're still counting Rizzo, I'll assume that the 3 Top 50 guys are Baez, Soler, who's yet to log an inning and Almora, who's not even signed yet. Maybe Maples, who's also yet to log an inning.

I can assure you, this is the first time Maples and top 50 prospect has gotten a mention in the same sentence. Hopefully, in a year or two, it gets revisited, because it's worth taljing about then.

Rademacher with his first Boise HR.

Tim Saunders desperately needs to get bumped up from Mesa.

clearly better than correa

on a side note, jose arias has been kinda disappointing. walk rate is great, but he's not missing any bats

Raisin, I traded Matt Moore/Shane Victorino for Bauer/Hosmer in a keeper league. Good move?

I'm thinking Bauer's division alone makes it a good deal. And Victorino is about to plummet value wise.

I like that move. Hosmer should be so much better than Victorino going forward that it would make up any advantage Moore would have over Bauer (of course I'm a BIG Bauer fan and think he could easily have a better career than Moore).

Is 18 year old DSL CF Robert Caro anyone worth watching? He split the season between 1&2 2 with pretty even results in each and in 27 games is .372/.464/.476/.950. No home runs though.

Sure - the problem with the non-bonus babies in the DSL is you won't get a scouting report and start differentiating the good ones from roster filler until the season is over. Generally, the best bet is to pay attention to the teenagers and the ones who are playing in either their first or second season in the DSL.

For example, Starlin Castro, Junior Lake, Arismendy Alcantara, Marco Hernandez and Gioskar Amaya all spent only 1 season in the DSL and all were 17 for that season. The best pitchers the Cubs have had in the DSL have normally been anywhere from 17-20 and most repeated the DSL at least once (Jose Arias was 19/20, Amaury Paulino was 18/19, Willengton Cruz was 18/19, Starling Peralta was 17/18/19, Jose Rosario was 17/18, Luis Liria was 18/19, and Alberto Cabrera was 17).
