Quakers in first!

Not bad. I think this is the latest in the season I have managed this feat. I have made the play-offs, once, but went down in flames to the Lynx.

his roster is illegal. like i said in the chat, he may have actually had negative points yesterday due to myers.

I think his stats from yesterday are on the stats page.

What was the illegality. 4 reserves?

After doing his trades, he had the following issues:

You have 17 active players. At most 16 are allowed.
You have 8 active Pitchers. At most 7 are allowed.
You have 11 Pitchers. At most 10 are allowed.

He's made the roster legal since then.

glad that cbs told me that nick swisher was hoping to avoid a trip to the DL when he missed like 2 games from a quad bruise. i'll be putting him back in my lineup tomorrow because apparently his injury wasn't serious at all.

Ok, but have you given him his oints from yesterday? I am most concerned about the two starts he used.

Wait.....if your roster is illegal you shouldn't receive any points correct?

no, but we don't seem to be applying that rule.

secondly, i think he had negative points for the day, so he should probably "get" those points.

we need to take this [expletive] to yahoo or something next year. either cbs [expletive] sucks or the settings we have established are messed up.

I think it's either one or the other, you either get zero points for an illegal roster or you continue to receive points for an illegal roster. I don't think you can pick or choose whether a team receives negative points on a day their roster happens to be illegal. In this case he just happened to get "lucky".

I don't think there is anything wrong with CBS. I think the problem is there are too many cooks in the kitchen this season and things are all over the place. Someone needs to really take charge of this league this offseason and get the ship righted.

I don't know. I think the rules are confusing but some of these issues are simple - if you add a player, you put a guy on the DL or drop a player; when you take a guy off the DL, you drop a player. Some of these are basic fbb mistakes that lots of managers seem to be making here. I do think some of that may be attributable to settings that let people have illegal rosters but some of that is on each manager.

i don't think we need to make it that black-and-white. when i looked at his team yesterday, it was illegal because he had four reserve players, except one was roy oswalt, who's in the minors. he only had 8 minor league players or something, so the problem could easily have been avoided if he'd just had oswalt in the minors. it's not like he was carrying 3 extra bench players or starting 4 relievers.

Yeah. Last week MOJ lost points because he had 4 injured players, but he only had two guys on his bench. I added the points back for him.

Good points.

So then why was nothing done with Brian's points last week when I brought up the fact that he had 3 RP in his starting lineup, had 6 reserves and was making daily lineup changes?

I took the time with MOJ last week because if you look at the thread here, he did the calculations to tell me exactly how many points to add back in.

Avila off the DL, into the lineup at utility.

5th starter pitcher roulette continues once more to get to 7 starts.

Brien didn't get a "win" last week, did he?

Not really the point.

Sort of the point, actually

So teams can continue to do things against the rules and it's okay as long as they don't win? Got it.

Posted

Oh Jesus. You know that's not what I'm saying. I asked a simple question about whether his illegal roster got him a win bc it's important to wipe that out. Since winning is, like, the point of fbb.

Are you intentionally being dense?

MR has been about the most stickliest stickler for the rules this year, i don't think he's saying that.

i definitely think he should have points taken away for having an illegal roster, win or lose. however, we seem to have abandoned that "wipe out your points if your roster is illegal rule."

now if he gained points from those illegal players, i think you could tell tim or whoever is the commissioner and he could take them away. but in a match up that you won against a team that doesn't appear to be in the race for a playoff spot (that could require a points scored tie breaker), it's probably not worth getting worked up over at this point. especially since i don't know that anyone has ever figured out how many illegal points he scored.

now, either al or rodelo needs to add up the points earned/lost by KR on monday and get that to tim so the adjustment can be made. they have a close match up and both are in the playoff race.
