Figured I'd start a thread since guys are starting to tee off in about 30 minutes. The Tiger/Mickleson/Watson group tees off at 9:33 CST. Hole 16 looks like it could provide us with some very interesting moments this week, 670 yard par 5, they are saying if you miss the fairway on your drive or second shot you are easily looking at a 6 and 7 or 8's are very much in play on it this weekend. Should be a good tournament.

The feed was really crappy today, though maybe it's my work network. Only worked for about 15 seconds before freezing multiple times.

If Tiger is in contention, this is just about all I will be doing this weekend. Which is cool because it's supposed to be stupid hot here this weekend.

What sticks out in my mind is how tough the course was. Not one golfer made par for the tourney.

The USGA tries to make their signature tournament like a British Open championship which just doesn't make sense. Bouncing the ball up onto the green isn't American golf.

Wow that drunk Brit scared the heck out of me. It's like he just jumped out of the TV.

Doesn't some of that have to do with the par being 70 rather than 72? If it was a par 72, the winning score would have been -7 and 26 players would have finished under par.

While I would like to think that I would break 100 easily there, but I'm not too sure. This is coming from a guy whose handicap is anywhere from 3-8 during a summer (from Indiana so can't play year long and stay consistent- start spring at 6-8 handicap and usually end summer/fall around 3-4) and shot 85 at Torrey Pines South 2 years ago from the blue tees (7200 yards I think? which is farther than anything we got around here except for Purdue Univ. golf course- Kampen Course at 7500 yards from the black tees... 6900 from blues which is what I plays at). Black tees were like 7600 yards or something crazy, but they recommended me not to play from there.

Olympic Club just look nasty with the elevations/slopes and not to mention how long (7100 yards on a par 70) and how extremely tight the fairways were. It reminds me of Dale Hollow Lake golf course in terms of elevations/slopes on each hole although I'm sure it's nowhere near as difficult either as their fairways are pretty wide and open.

I watched a good chunk of this tournament, and I think that Beau Hossler got more screen time than Webb Simpson did.

Considering that the extra 2 strokes to par would have been par 5's, you are probably right.

I just played Torrey Pines South for the very first time last Friday. It was part of my bucket list of golf awesomeness week. Within 6 days, I played Torrey Pines South, Pebble Beach, Spyglass, Spanish Bay and Del Monte.

Could have golfed a little better than I did, but other than that it was simply amazing.
