He just doesn't care enough.

And he's not trying hard enough either.

You really don't see why this is an issue?

I wonder if this happens if he's playing in Chicago. NY definitely. Chicago probably. A place like Atlanta, no way.

I can't believe this is such an issue. And the national media is getting on him too. Mike and Mike were all over him.

Pitchers play golf between starts all the time. Maddux, Glavine and Smoltz played insane amounts of golf during the season. Always had their clubs with them. When did all the Boston meatheads get their MDs and do the physical exam on Beckett so they could decide that golf could aggravate a pitching injury. I don't get it.

It was a back injury. You don't think that the torque involved in swinging a golf club is something that should be avoided when you're missing a start due to a lat injury?

Not to mention the fact that it just looks horribly bad when you're pitching like [expletive], you miss a start due to this injury but you decide it's ok to go golfing.

To the level that it should be questioned, sure. Becoming a full-on meltdown, on a national level? That's pretty ridiculous in my view.

So here's the real question for Beckett today, amid all the obvious and well-deserved criticisms for how he has behaved and pitched of late: Do you even like what you do anymore, Josh? Do you? Or do you see your talent as some sort of needless burden?

Personally I don't care what Boston does or says though. But I find it hard to believe that Beckett just doesn't care anymore because he went golfing on his off day. Maybe it opened him up to more risk, I don't know. I'll leave that to people with more medical training.
