let's get this settled right now.

last year, the rule was the first time you went over your 7 starts, the start that occurred last in time was erased. on your second offense, your best start was erased.

is that what we're going with this year? my preference would be to just take away the best start on your first offense. for one, it's hard to keep track of who has how many offenses. two, taking away the last in time start could actually benefit the person who went over.

I can see how keeping track of offenses would be difficult. At the same time, if it's truly an accident (i.e., a start gets moved up and owner doesn't realize it before the game), then losing that start is a fair punishment. Going back and taking a great start from earlier in the week is an overly harsh penalty to me.

I'm also basing this on the info in this forum which suggests that this only happens a handful if times each year. If it's a bigger problem, maybe a stiff penalty right out of the gate is warranted.

Maybe we could have a sticky thread here keeping track of roster offenses. Then it'd be easier to know who has screwed up before.

I like the "three strikes" strategy, with the first strike just being that last illegal start, as that is what would have happened if the person didn't forget, anyway. If they end up better off as a result, then them's the breaks.

Doesn't sound too difficult. I agree to keep the three strike rule if it's even up for debate.

ok, but when we say "three strike" rule, we really mean "two strikes," right?

1st offense: lose your last in time start.

2nd offense: lose your best start.

yeah i'm fine with that... 2 strikes.

btw i'll send a note to the league saying that this week will be 4 starts, and reminding people to add the players they picked in the prospect draft, if they haven't done so already.

I thought 3rd offense was to find a replacement owner or something.

That's what I thought as well. Hence the 3rd strike and you're out.
