This is the first I heard of it. The good news is it sounds like he'll be ready to go in the spring and will be content with signing another discounted deal to pitch for the Cubs. They could certainly do a lot worse than Wood as a setup man for somewhere between 1 and 2 million.

 

Chicago Cubs pitcher Kerry Wood said he will undergo surgery to repair a torn meniscus in his left knee and will miss the rest of the season.

 

Wood said he heard something pop in the knee while squatting two hours after Saturday's game.
