Cubs placed RHP Kerry Wood to the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to June 9, with a blister on his right index finger.

Wood has been dealing with the problem for over a month and wasn't available to pitch Sunday. The veteran right-hander has a 2.25 ERA and 21/10 K/BB ratio over his first 24 innings this season. He'll likely be the subject of trade rumors upon his return.

Cubs activated INF Jeff Baker from the 15-day disabled list.

An expected move. Baker was batting .368/.382/.483 with one home run and 14 RBI over his first 89 plate appearances prior to the injury. He'll return to his usual utility role.

It never really felt like Kerry was finally back with the Cubs until he got placed on the DL for the first time.

Edit: Especially with a blister
