Here's to hoping Jackson is a scratch at Iowa.

They already announced that Russell is starting Monday and they don't need a 5th starter again until May 14th. My guess is that if Wells isn't ready by then we will get Doug Davis until he is.

After 6, McNutt has a shutout - 6 IP, 2 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 4 K.

EDIT #1: But he is struggling in the 7th - single, single, WP to score a run. Following the WP to score the run, McNutt was pulled - 6+ IP, 4 H, 1 ER, 1 BB, 4 K, 82 pitches - runner at 2nd is his responsibility.

EDIT #2: Buchter doesn't help and let's in McNutt's 2nd run. His final line - 6+ IP, 4 H, 2 ER, 1 BB, 4 K.

Also, Austin Kirk has been fantastic so far this season. Today, he's at 4 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 6 K. On the season, his ERA is down to 1.64 and he has 24 Ks in 22 innings.

J Jax! Looking good again today. Weird. It seems like he's back. Any reports on velo and stuff?

Well, he was taken out after a single to CF deflected off him. He was already at 88 pitches so maybe he had reached his pitch count. Hopefully he's not hurt.

Also, Austin Bibens-Dirkx made sure to allow all of Jackson's base runners to score so Jackson ended up with a really bad outing.

Austin Kirk finished with 5.2 IP, 3 H, 2 ER, 2 BB, 7 K. And Yohan Gonzalez also allowed a runner he inherited from Kirk to score too.

Well Russells horrible, and Coleman isn't much better. Be it Jackson or Davis, they're going to need to bring in somebody resembling a major league starter, especially with Dempster being an insta-loss as well.

Doug Davis probably needs to get a rehab start or 2 at AA or AAA first before being ready. It's a shame Jackson wasn't ready health-wise when Cashner and Wells got hurt.

Searle blows the tie game in the 10th for daytona (it was a double header, so this was the 4th extra inning).

Ha with another walk today. Nelson Perez got one, too.

I believe those are the two guys I've ever seen come the closest to having more OF assists than walks in a season.

He`is now, and despite his rough start today, theres no reason for him not to start next time either the Russell spot comes up. They cant just go giving away games when there are other options available.

Didn't realize that Rhoderick was called up to AA already. Wondering if this is a temporary move due to some sort of injury, as it seems awful quick for him to be up. (yes, too lazy go go through transaction logs right now to figure it out). I mean, he was dominant in A+ so far, so maybe it's a merit bump.
