With the wind howling out to Left and Jimmy Russell on the mound, we could see a whole new kind of ugly.

You'd think, but you gotta figure he'd be first off the bench against a RH reliever in a PH situation. Because, you know, that would be "playing the odds" and stuff.

 

Ideally, but then I remember the other day when he let a shaky at best Dempster bat in the bottom of the 5th with the bases loaded and a RH pitcher on the mound and Fukudome sitting on the bench.

 

Yes. That was a huge WTF moment for me. It was clear that Demp was gassed, and then the next inning he gave up 3 runs.

 

Dempster basically had to have been spinning a gem to justify leaving him in there, and he was so far from that it makes it completely baffling as to what Quade was thinking.
