Butler Extends With Royals

Apparently he re-upped with them for 4 years/30 million. Not a bad deal at all for the Royals and with all the youngsters coming up maybe KC won't need to go out and sign the "veteran presence" since they'll have Butler to fill that role.

He'll be 26 or so when most of the guys hit the majors to stay and he'll have around 6 years by that point. It's stupid, but we all know most organizations try to have some sort of veteran on their team to show the "rookies" how it's done. Butler may not be old, but he will have quite a bit of experience. Hopefully the Royals go for that instead of signing guys like Kendall and Ankiel.

Butler may wind up being our best option next offseason, if Fielder and Pujols are already signed and the Royals feel Hosmer is ready. At least it's a team friendly contract.
