Won their fourth consecutive national championship tonight. Just incredible.

That, combined with their streak of 109 consecutive wins (snapped earlier this year), where would you rank this team in terms of sports dynasties, at least on the college level?

first they have to consult nancy pelosi.

as for the team, i play volleyball competitively and loved going to watch their matches - not only because they always win but because it's a fun atmosphere and they are so skilled. they've been a recruiting machine for about 5 years now and show no signs of slowing down. they'll need to replace their two best defensive players for next season, though.

You can't mention sports dynasties without mentioning my alma mater, the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater and their 2nd consecutive D-III National football title and the 3rd in 4 years. They're currently riding a streak of 30 consecutive victories.

It's been Whitewater vs Mount Union (VA) in the D-III National Title game each of the last six years.

Just wanted to get a mention in. That's all. :)

Iowa wrestling won 9 straight titles in the late 70's through mid-80's and are in the midst of a long winning streak right now themselves and are the three time defending champions.

It's fun to look up some of the dominance that has taken place in different college sports. Apparently Kenyon College has won 31 straight Division III national championships in swimming.

Russ Rose stole this title in what was really supposed to be a rebuilding year. They are loaded for the next few years.

Still find it very strange how successful both PSU volleyball programs are considering the location of the school.

I definitely had no clue Penn State had a good women's volleyball team. That is an impressive streak though. Any close calls or is it like the UConn women where they are never tested?

no they have some close calls. last year they lost the first two sets to texas, then came back to win in 5 sets - all 3 of the sets PSU won were close (especially the third and fifth). 2008 they were clearly the best team in the country but they did have to play nebraska in the national semi-finals in omaha, so there were 15,000 people rooting for nebraska and they took the match to 5 sets. same thing in 2007, played stanford in the finals in san jose and lost sets 3 and 4 before winning set 5 for the title.
