I think a large percentage of the reason why casual fans loved Theriot so much is because his last name says "The Riot". I've met a lot of fans who had a lot of irrational adulation for Theriot who affectionately referred to him as "The Riot"

Why was Theriot a fan favorite here? He's kind of an [expletive]. I understand the small, untalented, white guy fetish that fans have but at least usually those players tend to come off as nice people. Theriot is a dick.

If I was a pro baseball player, I would be one of those short, gritty white guys...and I hate those type of guys, even in football.
