ST - 3/27 - Cubs (Silva) vs. Padres (Richard)

Recommended Posts

Dempster pitched great today (Sunday) going 7 shutout innings. But doesn't 7 IP with 92 pitches seem extreme at this point?

Not really. This is basically a regular season start this go-around, in that the pitchers are encouraged to pitch as deep as they can and to treat it as close to a real game as they can. The next and final start is just a 2-3 inning tuneup to keep them on schedule for the regular season.

Also, Jake Peavy threw 112 pitches over 7 innings yesterday.

In a minor league game.
