Do you contribute anything to stimulate discussion here other than insults and jabs at other posters?

Thank you for answering my question.

FWIW, you've now successfully de-stimulated discussion about the topic at hand for about a full page.

Enough of this back and forth please.

Very much so. We just had a riveting discussion in the Armando Gaalragga thread in this very subforum. I was very much a part of that discussion. Very few agreed with me, but there were no insults or jabs at other posters. Discussion was certainly stimulated.

Thanks for playing, though.

Are you sure you know what riveting means?

So the Marlins are calling up Mike Stanton on Tuesday as well... it's gonna be a fun day for baseball fans

I can't help thinking about the former relief pitcher by the same name whenever I hear of him.

Also, the town of Strasburg, VA is considering changing its name to Steven Strasburg, VA. http://www.sportingnews.com/blog/the_sporting_blog/entry/view/67969/virginia_town_wishes_to_adopt_name_of_nationals_potential_savior_

I can't remember the last year when there were so many highly touted prospects in the league at the same time, a handful of which will be serious contenders for the ROY award this year. Seriously, it's like a who's who of future all star teams in the NL alone...

Jason Heyward

Mike Leake

Stephen Strasburg

Mike Stanton

Buster Posey

Jaime Garcia

Drew Storen

Andrew Cashner

Starlin Castro

Jhoulys Chacin

Jennry Mejia

Alcides Escobar

Ike Davis

Craig Kimbrell

If you toss David Freese in the mix you could almost field an entire team of nothing but highly touted rookies. The only notable rookies in the AL (that I can spot) are:

Justin Smoak

Wade Davis

Brian Matusz

Neftali Feliz

Seriously this is a great year for fans of the youth movement in baseball. It's pretty exciting to see all this talent all up at once. And there are still guys like Carlos Santana, Pedro Alvarez, Desmond Jennings, Aroldis Chapman, Brett Wallace, Madison Bumgarner, etc who still may get the call eventually

It really is exciting to see all these future faces of the game break in all at once.

Is Strasburg's debut going to be on ESPN? I don't mean just the first pitch, but the whole game?

I'm glad somebody is covering it; there would be many, many upset baseball fans if they couldn't watch his debut.

I was freaking out when I saw that it wasn't going to be on ESPN and only local channels. I gotta hit up a bar to watch it, but still I'm glad I can see the game. MLB.tv was my last resort.

Bah, the bar should be my last resort, I realized that MLB.tv will be cheaper, lol

Prediction:

5+ innings

7 hits

2 walks

7 K's

3 ER

110 pitches

no decision

It's the Pirates.

I say 7+ innings

4 hits

1 walk

9 K's

1 ER

100 pitches

I know it's the pirates. But Kerry Wood debuted against a god-awful Expos team and didn't even last 5 innings. I'm just expecting him to be good and not great in his debut

Fair enough. I think Strasburg is much, much better than Wood.

At this point in their careers, definitely.

And I guess the lineup Wood faced wasn't that bad:

Grudz

Santangelo

Vladdy

Fullmer

Vidro

Widger

Andrews

Wood went 4 2/3, 4 ER, 3 BB, 7 K, 102 pitches

Mark Prior's debut (vs. the Pirates): 6 IP, 2 ER, 2 BB, 10 K, 103 pitches

So 5 starts for Strasberg before he pitches the best game in MLB history?

So this kid throws a slurve!!! Well, he does want to be a Kerry Wood, isn't that the pitch that eventually lead Kerry to surgery?

It was throwing an insane number of them that led to surgery.
