Somehow a statement where Hendry says that Byrd 'fits the whole package' is talking about him negatively. It seems the left handed 'in a perfect world' comment was a way for him to address the fact that he has platoon splits like a left handed hitter making him all the better addition to the team. This stuff shouldn't be read in too literally, it was a verbal comment and Hendry's not an incredibly eloquent guy.

Meanwhile, Kenny Williams said the WS considered Jermaine Dye, "but our biggest need would be a left-handed bat". It's amazing that so many posters criticize Hendry for all of these "left-handed" comments when Williams is saying the same thing.

What's so amazing about a bunch of Cubs fans focuing primarily on the dumassedry that comes out of the Cubs GM's mouth while not paying particular attention to what another team's GM says?

There is a big difference between not signing someone because he isn't left handed and signing someone who is right handed, then wishing they were left handed.

And yet wishing that someone was lefthanded isn't any kind of an insult.

I'm very confused about the course of this debate, but between worrying about handedness and seeing some people are pushing the "who will leadoff and who will bat 2nd" story, it's fair to say all the real important questions have been answered.

Oh, and somebody wrote Park was promised a shot at the Cubs rotation before signing with the Yanks.

I really hope the new bathrooms are nice.

Imagine the surprise when some people finally start realizing how all too common a GM of Hendry's caliber is after more "changes."

My point is that the Hendry-bashers need to open their eyes and ears and realize that most of the other GMs are making the same comments and moves that Hendry is making.

Why? Most of the teams in baseball don't make the playoffs. A dumb move is a dumb move regardless of how many other people make it.
