Tim responded to my PM and Don seems to be waiting in the wings to make his two picks.

yeah, I was in the admin portion of the site activating newbies.

I made a pick I am certain was available this time. :)

Ok, now let's try for available and eligible. ;)

Well sh*t, my mistake. I could have moved him to my minors and instead I dropped him because I thought it was necessary to keep my roster legal. Stuff happens I guess.

My picks: Nick Hagadone, James Darnell

That's what I get for trusting Don on his word. ;)

Database is up to date on the picks. You all can't shake me with your fancy quick picks.

Assuming Robert is busy making his pick since he's here, I'll send Al an email and I already have a PM into Juan, and Juan checked in just a few moments ago. Let's keep this train a rollin'.

I notice one end of the draft picking faster than the other!

We seem to have lost Robert. Maybe he reached the end of the internet?

We have a piper down!

Nevermind. Robert was busy knocking another guy off of my draft board. I have an email out to Al and a PM out to Juan. Things might be slowing down for awhile now.

I was on Roadkill and Baseball America's web sites researching my next pick. Once it gets to this stage of the draft it isn't easy finding a Top 100 prospect that isn't already taken.

I count like 5 guys in the top 100 right now, but I don't know that I want any of them.

If I pick someone else, I will have to drop a prospect I actually care a little about or carry someone on my MLB reserve all year.

Is it possible to correct the listing for Dae-Eun Rhee to show him as a Cubs' pitcher rather than Angels' catcher? He was added with that listing last year when I drafted him since he wasn't (and still isn't) in the database. No big deal if its too much of a hassle, but I like to have an accurate listing of pitchers and position players on my roster.

Angels catcher is the default info when adding someone to the database. I'll drop him and re-add him for you.

I figured that was probably the case (first team alphabetically, first position alphabetically). I probably didn't think to mention his team and position when I drafted him last year.

That and Juan didn't have any help with this stuff last year that I can recall. I was having trouble keeping up this morning when the picks were coming in hot and heavy between adding players to the database, adding players to teams, updating the draft thread with the most recent picks, and checking back to the draft thread to see if there have been more picks while also sending out PM's and emails to the next draftees.

I'll take Peavy off your hands if that would help.

It was definitely fast and furious for awhile this morning. I was caught off guard that my turn came up again so quickly.

He's not exactly mine to trade unless you are referring to the other league we both play in. But, it sounded fun. Oh, and I wasn't whining. I was just pointing out how I could see why Juan might have forgotten to adjust Dae Eun Rhee's particulars when adding him to Roberts team last year. He had that job all by himself last year for the most part.

I'm off to go drinking for the rest of the night. I'll make my pick in the morning if it's my turn by then.

Now that this prospect draft is (FINALLY) over, I'm trying to think what we might be able to do to make it work better in the future. Last year we were planning to do a prospect draft in August after the signing deadline, but for some reason we never did. Personally I think that would be better timing. The real amateur draft would be fresher in people's minds, and I think during the season more league members would be on NSBB more regularly than now, so the delay between picks might not be as long. If we do that we might not need a prospect draft at this time of year since we can always use the waivers process to fill in gaps due to promotions, trades, etc.

The issues I see with that are people are on vacation in the summer and most of those players would have to be manually added to the database, and there would be a lot of them manually added.
