I believe you can hold down the CTRL key while clicking to achieve this

Or right-click on the link, then click on Open in New Tab or Open in New Window.

This has previously been a topic of discussion:

Basically if the link is in a tag, it should pop into a new window.

 

If it's not...like the one I just put above, it will stay in the current window.
