Has the deadline to offer Harden arbitration passed? If Lilly is going to be out, we need to lock up Harden.

Call me skeptical with the "mid april" stuff. I heard that too many times before from the Cubs regarding Prior and Wood that I don't believe anything the medical staff says anymore.

They have until Dec. 1 to offer arbitration to their own free agents. And I don't think the April time frame mentioned in the article came from the Cubs' medical staff; it was just Muskat reporting what is a typical time frame for this type of surgery.

Bruce says Cubs must consider Harden. He talks about the current uncertainty of the rotation and adds:

That’s why it’s important for Hendry to get serious about bringing Rich Harden back for at least one year.

Yes, yes, yes. Offer Harden arbitration for sure. Bring him back Jim!

The CUBS 2010 April schedule is not quite as wide open as in past years. After getting the first 2 Tuesdays of the season off, they start a string (14 April through 02 May) of 19 consecutive days without an off day, thus requiring the use of a 5th starter on 19, 24 & 29 April.
