Congrats to him for winning the "First MLB Player To Get Himself In Trouble In The Offseason" award.

Will he actually be in any trouble over this? For one thing, he'll be a free agent; it's not as if he's presently under contract to a team that can withhold his pay or suspend him. For another, if you believe his story, he was at a shooting range. I don't know what Nicaraguan gun laws are like, but presumably, the guns owned by a shooting range are legal and licensed or, if the gun belonged to Padilla and he was discharging it at a public shooting range, it was equally legal and licensed.

Yeah. Good point. Not really trouble, per se. I should have called it the First MLB Player to Do Something Stupid In The Offseason Award instead.

I like how nobody is regarding Lincecum getting caught with an 8th and a pipe as getting in trouble, or doing something stupid. I agree and everything, especially since it was in Cali. Just thought I'd point that out.

Huh? First, this happened before Lincecum got caught. Second, I can't remember which poster it was, but someone was quick to transfer the award to him.

Oh [expletive]... oops. I didn't see this thread until yesterday and I didn't notice that it was posted over a month ago. My mistake.
