I'd call this a bad loss because the Hawks are better than this team, and they lucked out by not having to face their workhorse goalie who is one of the top 3 keepers in the league and starts almost every game. You have to take advantage of these games with Nashville right on our heels.

 

We played a sloppy game and because of that got an L. I don't mind per say that the Hawks are slipping a bit because I know they are better than this, I just wish they would have picked another time when all my sports teams weren't getting blown out almost every game they play (Bulls, Bears, DePaul, Michigan hoops/football). I rely on the Hawks to keep me from quitting sports entirely.

Not to rub it in, but this was Lalime's first win of the year and he had just been sent down to the AHL and lost 2 games there.

There's only one way to really find out, and unless Huet tanks at some point this season it's not going to happen.

 

But in this role, yeah, he's outstanding. But he's benefitting from the same great defense Huet is getting. Tonight he's only seen 14 shots through two periods. And I'm only on the radio so I can't tell, but I haven't heard that he's made more than one really great save.

Makes me wonder how much of it is a budding superstar and how much of it is him not being out there long enough for teams to solve him. I think he's legit to some extent.

Unfortunately, I didn't get to see any of this one but I got a text from the updates that the Hawks give out and it said Kane left in the first period. How significant was the injury?

 

Niemi has been one of the best backups in the league. I've been thrilled with how he's performed this year.
