So who does Castro project to be most like?

 

Edgar Renteria? Someone else? or is it too soon?

 

Not a bad comparison. I honestly can't think of a recent guy that matches, but that's because I haven't thought too deeply. I hope he has a better glove than Renteria, who was overhyped in that department.

Some similarities, but Andrus has much better speed/SB instincts. Castro might end up having better pop with the bat.

The first thing I noticed in Andrus' BR page was the SB stats (24/3 SB/CS)

i think renteria is a good comp; once castro fills out he'll be roughly the same weight as renteria and the same height (assuming no weird growth spurt). he can probably have good doubles power for a SS and 10-15 home run ability. renteria for most of his career was above-average but not elite defensively, and it seems like castro can be that. i think andrus has elite defensive ability but not as much pop.

Let's cross our fingers and hope he does just that. Since recovering from TJ surgery Colvin has been on fire.
