Theres really no reason for Soriano to play another game this season. With the roster expansion coming up, no need to DL him either, but when hes making 18 mil a year for the next 5 years, they really need to keep him as healthy as possible. He should have been DLd months ago, but thats a moot point now. Nows the time to see what Jake Fox is really made of and bring in Fuld as a late inning replacement prn.

I wanted Soriano's knee dealt with months ago so him not playing is fine by me. It should have been painfully obvious that he was likely playing hurt most of this season.

BOO THIS THREAD TITLE.

It always takes me a while to get used to the high school students being back. Carry on with your wacky thread titles, kiddo!

Sorry if the thread title offends, you. or you could just get over yourself. or not. its your choice.

Doesn't offend me, but does make you look like a 12 year old. So kudos for that.

I actually stole it from Greenfield or Rogers or one of the Red Eye 5 on 5 guys from a few years back. Its just a thread title. Some folks are just a bit up tight.

Never happen. The one thing that is a constant on this board are the attack poodles that come to the defense of Soriano and Bradley to no end.

Let them bring it.

No one defended Soriano, simply the thread title at the time.

If its so bad here, go elsewhere.

And to further take things off topic, Bradley is good.

Oh, without question.. His presence has done wonders for this team. I can only hope we sign him to an extension before he becomes a free agent again. The amount of teams that will want him is going to cause a bidding war.

And to steer back on track, I never thought that the thread title would be that big of a deal, but the fact is Soriano is playing hurt and has been for months. With the playoffs out of reach for all practical purposes, theres no point in further agrevating his injury, and at this point we should be showcasing what Fox can do. Maybe he can build trade value, maybe wed just assume hang on to him.

I mentioned it in the game thread yesterday, but Soriano could barely make it around the bases after hitting his homer yesterday. He's clearly playing in a ton of pain, and someone with the Cubs needs to grow a pair and shut him down

uh wouldn't the attacking be done by people saying soriano and bradley are terrible?

At this point I'm pretty much convinced you're doing this to annoy people.

Attack poodles? You're just trolling at this point.

Do you have to bring this crap into every single thread? Who is defending anyone here?

On topic: Soriano should have been shut down a while ago, but I think they still had a belief they could scratch out a streak and make the playoffs. At this point its pretty obvious that is not happening, and regardless this is getting to the point where it can have long-term implications for his future health. If he loses his speed, that takes away a big part of his value and his game. Im afraid this will cause him to swing for the fences even more than he already does in trying to overcompensate and become a big home run hitter rather than just a good hitter overall. It also could be an issue with playing LF. His arm and his speed in overcoming bad jumps are the only reason he can play out there at all, and if he loses the speed I dont know if he can stay out there.

Like said above, Fox should be out there as much as possible the rest of the season. Either he will drive up his trade value or he will get a ton of experience in the outfield for next year. With the injuries to Soriano and Bradley that can be expected, he will get plenty of playing time if he is still in Chicago.
