When you grade a 50 runner, you have two ways to do it...

1)Time for home to 1st. (4.2 from LH is avg.)

2)60 yd. (6.7 to 6.85 is avg.)

If I grade him defensively... you grade him on routes, reads off the bat, footwork, body control, etc.

He doesn't have straight-line speed and from what I've seen from him, I don't think he has the range to play CF full-time and since he does show a good read off the bat, that lack of CF'ers range is likely caused by lack of speed/initial burst. Jackson's improved athletic ability and foot-speed is what separates them as far as one projecting as a CF'er and the other as a corner OF'er, with that said, Burke has a slightly stronger arm and a more accurate arm.

That's actually very informative. Gives me a slightly different vantage point on the "technical analysis" front. I definitely see what you're saying now. I guess I haven't seen him play enough to conclude that he doesn't have CFer range...but back to my original thought - I never said he was a CFer...just a more-than-adequate fill-in if necessary.
