I really do think we get Teahen. I dont think the Red Sox get Halladay, but they do get either V Mart or A Gon and maybe Heath Bell with him. If anyone gets Halladay, the Rangers do, but I think he stays in Canada.

9:19am: Juan C. Rodriguez of the South Florida Sun-Sentinel says the Padres wanted Cameron Maybin and Miller for Bell. The Fish have seen other trade ideas dry up as well, leading Rodriguez to suggest "it might be Nick Johnson or bust for the Marlins."

Cameron Maybin and Andrew Miller for Heath Bell. Wow. . . .

barring a Holliday trade, I'm expecting a pretty quiet day on the trade front. Seems like most of the names everyone has talked about have already moved

We all wish Holliday would be traded

but of course you meant Halladay

also, you know this thread will never work

10:01am: MLB.com's T.R. Sullivan says the Rangers' talks for Halladay "appear to have broken off" and are "somewhere between dead and on life-support." Seems like the Rangers are unwilling to trade pitcher Derek Holland, especially after last night's gem.

So in other words Miguel Cabrera for Heath Bell? That's not happening.

And it shouldn't.

And we're off this morning..

Washburn to the Tigers.

That really came out of nowhere. I knew the Brewers and Yankees wre both interested in him, but not the Tigers. I hear they wanted a lot from the Brewers, so I wonder what the Tigers give up.

Tigers Acquire Jarrod Washburn

By Tim Dierkes [July 31 at 10:27am CST]

The Tigers acquired pitcher Jarrod Washburn from the Mariners, according to Mike Salk of ESPN radio in Seattle. Jon Paul Morosi and Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports agree, saying the Mariners will get Luke French and another prospect.

I dont know about much abput Luke French, but surely the Brewers could have matched that package. My fear is at 2:59, the Brewers will come out of nowhere with Roy Halladay or Zack Greinke.

Speaking of the Brewers, are they just conceding this season or what? I read last night that they weren't going to acquire any pitching which is what they need.

MLBTR had this on the Brewers yesterday

Brewers GM Doug Melvin told Tom Haudricourt of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel that he doesn't expect to add a starter before tomorrow's trade deadline. The Brewers were looking for starters before Jeff Suppan hit the DL and now their need for arms has grown. Here are the details from Melvin's conversations around the league:

The Brewers talked to rival teams about 10 or 12 starters.

Melvin says it looks like the Mariners will keep Jarrod Washburn.

The D'Backs appear likely to keep Jon Garland and Doug Davis.

Kevin Correia was on the Brewers' list, "but there's nothing to it at this time," Melvin said.

"We're just not a match for anybody right now," Melvin said.

Still, I dont trust it and I wouldnt be shocked if they did something big.

Yeah, I don't know how Melvin expects to acquire quality starting pitching without giving up Escobar or Gamel.

guys the brewers suck anyways. they can add whoever they want, they wont be in the race.

If they got Halladay, Id say they could get back in the race, but I doubt that will happen, and Doug Davis, Jon Garland, or Kevin Correia arent going to do them much good.
