whats it matter, hasnt blanco already been at iowa this year?

Yes, but that was on a minor league contract, so it wasn't an option. Now that he's been added to the 40-man roster he'd have to use an option to be sent down, and he doesn't have one. Therefore he'd have to clear waivers in order to be sent down.

 

He is also the only reliable back up SS and Lou seems to like him so they will probabaly try to keep him around and send down players that have options (Fuld, Hoff, Baker, Stevens, etc) until the rosters expand. It would be nice if they could find a taker for Miles or let him stay in AAA all month but at this point neither of those seems likely. A bench of Hill, Blanco, Fox, Miles, Baker is not exactly awe inspiring but it may have to do for a couple weeks once Soto and Miles are back.

Seems like the right move but I just don't see Hendry doing it when Miles is still owed so much on his contract.

I think somebody would likely claim him to be a defensive replacement.
