Jay Jackson is starting to struggle like he was at the start of the season.

he hasn't retired the pitcher yet. he threw to second base too late to get the lead runner on a bunt attempt, and just walked the pitcher to walk in a run. he's having a terrible game.

done after 2.2 innings... 5 H, 4 R, 3 ER (for now), 4 BB (1 intentional), 2 K, 1 HBP, 64 pitches/34 strikes.

Su-Min Jung is actually getting a second rehab start in the AZL tonight.

And DJ LeMahieu made his pro debut today. He hit a triple in his first at bat.

su-min jung is pitching again for the azl cubs and has gone 1.2 innings, 1 hit, 1 BB, 1 K. d.j. lemahieu started his cub career with a triple and was knocked in by the next batter. brett jackson also had an rbi single in the first inning.

daytona is leading a slugfest 10-7. vitters is 1-2 with a hbp, castro is 1-3 with a walk, harrison is 2-3 with a walk. harrison has really been hitting lately.

The good news is Tarlandus Mitchell threw 0.2 no-hit innings. The bad news is that he walked 5 and hit one batter and 5 of those guys scored. Certainly not a quality start.

Su-Min Jung's final line: 2 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 2 K.

Josh Harrisons really getting it going at Daytona and Vitters seem to be starting ro figure things out as well.

Blake Parker with a rar bad outing but Gaub was great a usual strikig out 3 through 1.2 IP

And Aaron Miles was 2-4 with a double, so surely he'll be up soon despite the fact that Baker and Blanco are both better players than he is.

Has BJ Ryan so much as take the mound for AZL yet?

Ill give it 1 more bad start before the Jay Jackson is broken talk.

I'm not saying he is broken but he might have hit a wall because this is his first full season.

From AZ Phil:

The Cub Reporter"]In other news from Mesa, LHP B. J. Ryan reported to Fitch Park last Sunday, and has spent the past five days working one-on-one with Cubs Minor League Pitching Coordinator Mark Riggins. They are starting with long toss, and working up from there to delivery, arm slot, and release point. Ryan does his work in the morning, many hours before game-time and out of sight of most fans.

Also, WSR, there's an update on your boy Brad Snyder in the link.

Arizona Phil at TCR"]LeMahieu hit 3rd and was the DH, and in his very first pro AB he slammed an opposite-field triple off the RF fence, using his long-stride speed to make it to third base well in advance of the relay throw from the Brewers 2nd baseman. He then scored on a line-drive RBI single to CF by clean-up hitter (and 2009 10th round pick) Charles Thomas. (BTW, Thomas attended Edward Waters College in Jacksonville, FL, which is the same HBCU baseball legend--and one time Cubs coach--Buck O'Neil attended many years ago)

LeMahieu struck out (swinging) on a head- high fastball on his next trip to the plate in the third, and he bounced out on a two chopper to the first-baseman (unassisted) in the 6th.

In his final at bat, LeMahieu grounded an RBI single sharply through the box to CF, scoring Wes Darvill (2009 5th round pick out of Langley, BC & the Canadian Junior National Team) from 2nd base ,LeMahieu took 2nd on the throw to the plate and advanced to 3rd on a ground out, before scoring the Cubs 4th and final run on a wild pitch.

LeMahieu is supposed to either leave for or report to the Boise Hawks on Tuesday, so he won't be staying long in Mesa.

Boise Cubs RHP Su-Min Jung got the start for AZL Cubs tonight, and pitched two shutout innings. A 19-year Korean bonus baby signed by the Cubs last September, Jung was making his second rehab start for the AZL Cubs (he was shut-down with a sore shoulder earlier this month in Boise), and he looked very good (he picked it up a notch and struck out the last two hitters he faced, stranding Brewers runners at 2nd & 3rd). He threw all of his pitches for strikes and had good velocity on his fastball. Unless there is some reason why the Cubs want him to remain at Fitch Park, I would think Jung will be back at Boise very soon.
