Screw Bradley, Dunn, and Ibanez. Abreu signed for 5 mil for Christ sakes. We could have KEPT DeRosa while still acquiring our impact lefty bat. Not to mention, a lefty bat that actually hits well left-handed.

Discuss.

He's as bad, if not worse, than Dunn defensively, and isn't close to the hitter that Dunn is. Also he's much older.

Looking back... I would probably still take Abreu and DeRosa over Dunn and Fontenot.

But actually, if it had been up to me at the time, I would have brought Edmonds back, kept DeRosa, and then used the spare cash to upgrade somewhere else. Whether or not Edmonds would have panned out, we'll never know. BUT after the 2008 season, if it had been my call, that's what I would have done.

Seeing that nobody picked up Edmonds, I would say that he is done and it was a good decision to pass on him for 2009. That being said, I also wish they picked up Abreu. He would have really looked good in right as opposed to Uncle Milty.

Oh okay. Sort of like how he got released by the Padres because he was obviously done?

No...The Cubs picked him up fairly quickly after the Padres released him last year. Now this year, the CUbs let him go after the end of the 2008 season. It's been several months he has been out there and not even a sniff at someone picking him up. There must be a reason for that, and I believe it's because all the ML teams believe he is done.
