I remember exactly what I was doing.

 

I told my friend that Mench was going to homer today. (I swear). And he hit that 3 run homer off Hill in the first. I was so pumped. Gallardo was doing well. But I noticed we were not adding on runs. We blew a chance in the 9th but I remember still being calm.

 

Then the 9th came..... The one guy I didn't wanna see come up. BOOM.

 

Threw my phone and completly destroyed it. Pisses me off still thinking about it.

It happens so quickly. Aramis steps to the plate, and then you hear the crack of the bat and all of a sudden Ron is screaming in the background and you realize what just went on and start screaming with him.

I was driving back to my parents in IL when that happened (I went to the game the next day - which of course they lost). I woke up my sleeping girlfriend who was in the passenger seat and almost drove off the [expletive] road. What an awesome moment.

I spent the whole game bitching to a friend of mine who's a Cardinals fan, telling them the season was pretty much over, we were gonna be 9.5 out, we needed to get this game to build some momentum, and slowly and slowly and slowly we chipped away, but I refused to believe a win was possible until the moment Aramis stepped into the box with a man on.

 

Probably the most pure ecstasy I've felt as a Cubs fan apart from a division clinching game.
