We'll follow the lineup changes rules as currently written. The term benching means an announced change of a player's starting status. This would not include player's being sat down for 2 games (as seems to be the current trend in MLB) but a situation where a player no longer starts everyday (as in a platoon) or is simply replaced by another player.

With regard to the minor leaguers, I see your point Brian. The problem is how to keep track of when players are added to the database.

Would this work? http://roadkill123.baseball.cbssports.com/players/new-additions

It lists the day the player is added on the left.

no, not really.

I think that page helps a little bit. It doesn't take too long to filter back through those new addition pages and notice that a newly added minor leaguer is now on someone's roster.

Just make the penalty loss of that player and their top minor league draft pick and I'll bet people will make sure they double check before adding.

In the meantime, we can all help police it.

And I think what Raisin was subtly pointing out with that link on that particular page was to note that 2 teams have signed two minor league guys who are newly added to the database since our draft took place.

I know that justin's pickup was someone he drafted in the minor league draft (see the draft thread). He dropped the placeholder that was made for him in the draft and picked up the real player once he was added to the database. Not sure about the other one on there though.

Yeah, I had just thought of that and was going to go through and see which of the three guys who have been newly added were actually drafted prior to their names being added.

A quick search of the draft turned up Andrew Lambo and Martin Perez. Jeanmar Gomez seems to be the only guy that shouldn't have been picked up so far.
