Any word on Cashners early exit yet?

It didn't sound like he was hurt if that's what you were wondering. The Daytona broadcasters were really miffed at his early exit especially after McDaniel and Dolis had short outings the last two days.

Vitters went 1/3 with a double, walk, a strikeout and a stolen base. Carpenter: 5 IP, 5 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 4 K.

Burke, Perez and Rundle also had doubles. Brenly hit a home run/

another nice start by Kevin Hart. 5 IP, 1 hit 0 R 5 K 5 BB

he's been doing pretty well, but this wasn't really a good start imo. his biggest problem in the majors has been walks. 5 walks in 5 innings is no bueno. at this point of his career i'd rather see him give up 5 hits and a couple runs with like a 5:1 k:bb as opposed to walking 5 guys but not giving up any runs

Agreed. 5 BB in 5 IP is horrible, especially for a guy who'll end up relieving in the bigs.

And agreed on Vitters' BBs. He already has displayed his HR power, I like seeing the walks (same for Starlin Castro).

Tomorrow's Extended Spring Training game at the A's camp at the Papago Baseball Complex in Phoenix has been canceled because the Cubs want to have a closed "Camp Day" work-out for potential draft picks for their scouts at Fitch Park So today's game concluded the Cubs Extended Spring Training schedule.

Sad :(

Why? Boise's season starts in 15 days and Mesa's in 16 days. Guaranteed box scores every day plus some newspaper, radio and even TV coverage in the case of Boise.

Yeah - I'm excited about all of that, but I enjoy reading Arizona Phil's notes. Can we get an Idaho Phil to do that for Boise? I will watch some of the home games, but what about those darn away games? :)

OVERALL: 6-0! :D

Craig's buddy Alcantara showed unusual patience for the DSL with 3 walks but did commit an error. And Alcantara didn't have many SB opportunities as his last 2 walks loaded the bases up. DSL Cubs 1 had 3 HRs but Xavier Batista was the only one to hit one under the age of 19 (he's 17).

Nice to see 3 doubles out of Altagracia (but he only has 5 total hits). He has displayed poor plate discipline thus far. And those 2 walks for Carlos Henry were the first two of his season. Half of Henry's hits have been XBHs. Ricardo Parra who had received a bit of hype at his signing has been worse than Altagracia and Henry.

Alcantara: 18 AB - .389/.571/.889/1.460; 8 BB, 2 K, 2 errors

Altagracia: 24 AB: .208/.296/.333/.630; 2 BB, 9 K, 5 errors

Henry: 27 AB: .222/.276/.370/.646; 2 BB, 4 K, 7 errors

Parra: 9 AB - .111/.200/.111/.311; 1 BB, 2 K
