Daytona's coaching staff will coach the FSL North as a reward for winning the FSL North last year.

Daytona News-Journal[/url]"]One of the hottest hitters in the Florida State League and two of the youngest players in the high-A circuit will represent the Daytona Cubs later this month at the FSL All-Star Game in Fort Myers.

Catcher Robinson Chirinos, who put himself in the league record book with two grand slams in one game last Sunday, leads the trio that also includes two 19-year-olds -- shortstop Starlin Castro and starting pitcher Ryan Searle. The league announced its North and South all-stars Thursday.

Chirinos, who celebrates his 25th birthday today, is in his fourth season with Daytona. He converted to catcher last season and this year leads the club with a .357 average, eight home runs and 28 RBIs.

Castro has heated up at the plate, batting .368 with 10 extra-base hits and 13 RBIs last month. The youngest player on Daytona's roster has played in all but two of Daytona's first 48 games.

Searle has allowed more than three runs in only one of his nine starts. The right-hander is 4-3 with a 3.13 ERA (16 earned runs in 46 innings pitched).

How much of a prospect is Castro. A 19 year old holding his own in high-A is impressive but I don't recall reading anything about him from BA or here (unless I missed it - possible too).

He actually came into this season very well regarded. Baseball America had him ranked 7th in the Cubs system. BA also rated him the 14th best prospect in the AZL last year. John Sickels had him rated at 11 in the Cubs system.

His play thus far this season probably has gotten him into BA's top 5.
