didn't see this posted here, but for people that do look back at the golden age of baseball this is the last reminent of it that just left us.

 

Dominic DiMaggio, the bespectacled Boston Red Sox center fielder who made his own mark on the major leagues despite playing in the shadow of teammate Ted Williams and DiMaggio's Hall of Fame brother Joe, died early Friday at his Massachusetts home. He was 92.

 

My dad was a big fan of his and said he was as much of a clutch hitter as his brother was if not more and a better glove

For what it's worth Bill James looked at the claim that Dom was a better fielder than Joe and found it generally true. I believe Total Baseball also supports that claim. He was a really solid player too, career .383 obp, and was a star on those memorable late 40s/early 50s Red Sox.
