Just some random oddities using BR's similarity scores (which are fairly useless)

Guess who is #1 on Alfonso Soriano's:

Aramis Ramirez! I mean it makes perfect sense. They both have a history of leg problems, hit for power. Other than the fact that Soriano steals bases, strikes out a ton and never walks and that Ramirez strikes out very little, walks decently and never runs they're practically the same hitter!

And Soriano's most similar at this age: Matt Williams!

Soto's ones are interesting. The best comp for him is Bill DeLancey. DeLancey was a part of the Gas House gang who was pretty much done with baseball at age 24 due to lung problems. Most similar at his age is DeLancey, number two is Victor Martinez. Plz return to hitting Soto.

Let's look at some of Derrek Lee's most similar hitters at age 32:

#1 Kent Hrbek (out of baseball at age 34)

#3 Will Clark (out of baseball at age 36)

#4 Raul Mondesi (out of baseball at age 34)

I'm jes sayin'. Hal Trosky is one of his top ten overall. He played two seasons after he turned 28. I'm jes sayin'...

Apparently Ryan Theriot and Homer Bush are long lost baseball brothers along with Sy Sutcliffe. Now that's an awesome name. About half of Theriot's comps are dead ball players. That's not good when you're in the live era.

Let's Look at Milton's

#1 Wally Judrich (out of baseball at age 32)

#2 Jeff Hammonds (out of baseball at age 34)

#3 Hank Lieber (out of baseball at age 31)

#4 Ellis Valentine (out of baseball at age 30) - If only he could throw like EV could...

His comparisons through age 30:

#1 Ivan Calderon (out of baseball at age 31)

#2 Carl Everett (out of baseball at age 35)

#5 Rip Ripulski (less than 200 PAs after age 30)

I'm jes sayin' again....

Rich Harden's #1 Comp is Mark Prior. That sucks on so many different levels. #2 is Mickey Hughes...who never pitched after age 23. I'm sorry, I'm jes sayin'...

We've got some great names for Z

#1 Teddy Higuera (done at age 31)

#2 Pete Vuckovich (done at age 29)

Most similar at Z's age:

#1 Ramon Martinez (done at age 30)

#2 Dan Petry (done at age 30)

#3 Jim Maloney (done at age 29)

#4 Sandy Koufax (done at age 30)

#5 Ray Culp (done at age 29)

#6 Alex Fernandez (done at age 29)

Clark hit .345 his last year (I think) and walked away. I have a feeling he could have hung around a while longer.

As of earlier today, Matt Wieters, who has never had a major league AB, was ranked 19 spots behind Geovany Soto in Yahoo's fantasy rankings.... Matt Wieters is ranked 1049th

So yes, please Soto... start hitting the damn ball
