i was speaking in general about pitchers, not just zambranos velocity.

So if Zambrano threw as hard as he could (for conceivably as many pitches as it would take for his national team)

this wont happen. there are pitch limits.

If you're going to call people dumb you should probably have a better arugment than "I don't have proof but I think it's true so it is".

1. I didn't call anyone dumb.

You said

i still cant believe people think the wbc hurts pitchers. it's one of the dumber consensus thoughts out there.

Which is basically the same thing. You're calling an opinion dumb when you can't even provide any evidence or proof whatsoever that shows that.

OK then, for 65 pitches Zambrano, a traditionally emotional pitcher (who I imagine has great pride for his country), would be throwing close to 100 MPH. You think that is no difference than throwing to scrubs like every other proven spring training pitcher does? His velocity fluctuates much more than a couple miles per hour. Therefore his arm is taxed further.

He would undoubtedly exert less energy and time pitching in "regular" spring training than in the WBC. That cannot be a negative.

Bingo. The WBC is competitive play. Spring Training games - for guys whose roster spot is already assured - are not.
