SANTO DOMINGO, Dominican Republic (AP) -The Licey Tigers won the third game of the Dominican winter baseball series Thursday when the Cibao Giants forfeited in protest of the suspension of second baseman Felix Martinez.

 

Martinez was suspended for the rest of the series Wednesday for trying to assault umpire Jeff Macias before a game.

 

Thursday's game was declared a forfeit in favor of Licey, Dominican Baseball League president Leonardo Matos Berrido told The Associated Press.

 

The Tigers lead the nine-game series 3-0.

 

The league also moved Friday's game from San Francisco de Marcoris, hometown of the Giants, to the capital of Santo Domingo to avoid protests.
