Here I did these numbers in my spreadsheet and it seems the Cubs have the best 1-2-3 punch in all of MLB... I could really only think of the Angels, Brewers, Blue Jays that could possibly even come close:

LA Angels of Anaheim of Orange County of California of the United States of America:

Santana	3.33	205 1/3	76
Saunders	3.65	185 75
Lackey	3.38	154 2/3	58
TOTAL	3.45 ERA	545 IP 209 ER

Toronto Bluejays:

Halladay	2.77 231 71
Litsch	3.75 156 65
Marcum	3.39 151 1/3	57
TOTAL	3.23 ERA	538 1/3 IP	193 ER

Milwaukee Brewers:

Sabathia	1.82 109 22
Sheets	2.97 194 64
Bush 4.24 172 81
TOTAL	3.16 ERA	475 IP 167 ER

CHICAGO CUBS:

Zambrano	3.41 182 1/3	69
Harden	1.65 60 11
Dempster	3.02 196 2/3	66
TOTAL	2.99 ERA	439 IP 146 ER

Can anyone think of any other teams that might have a chance to have a better 1-2-3 punch than the Cubs? I'll gladly add them in.

the lack of innings is going to lose this argument as far as who's been the best so far this year.

going forward, i think i'm down.

Well if I add Harden's full year numbers and Sabathia's... the numbers actually get better for both teams. With Harden's full season the Cubs 1-2-3 is about 2.74.

Add our 1-2-3-4-5 and we probably have the best starting rotation in baseball!

I have all the stats for our pitchers...

	AVG ERA
1-2-3 2.99
1-2-3-4	3.34
1-2-3-4-5	3.57

1 through 5 3.54
1 through 4 3.34
1 through 3 2.99
Starting Pitchers	3.70
Bullpen	4.05
TOTAL	3.82

EDIT: The first set of numbers is up to date, the bottom set is what it was before the game.

I think the whole point of the code tags is so your data lines up nicely

Yea, it's from Excel... if you can't read it, that's your problem.

Anyone have any suggestions for other teams that might be better?

Use notepad and Courier size 10.

The sad thing is I'm sure Lou is going to put Howry on the playoff roster, which means I'm hoping that our starters can go 8 low-pitch-count innings and get it right to Marmol and Wood, totally bypassing any opportunity for him to pitch. Lou's really hung up on the "experience" issue in the bullpen.

It lines up good enough for me. It isn't that hard to read it. Try Arizona with Webb, Haren, and whoever else. Tampa Bay as well.

Arizona Diamondbacks:

Webb	3.26	212 2/3	77
Haren	3.24	203 73
Johnson	4.11	162 74
TOTAL	3.49ERA	577 2/3 IP 224 ER

Tampa Bay Rays:

Shields	3.50	200 2/3	78
Garza	3.66	179 2/3	73
Kazmir	3.50	141 1/3	55
TOTAL	3.55 ERA	521 2/3 IP 206 ER

Seriously, the Cubs are way wayyyyy better than any other team when it comes to playoff rotation.

I think we are too, but you do have to take into account that the Angles and the Rays both play in the AL, so those ERAs will be a little higher no matter what.
