Wow -- I was surprised to see DeRosa as the team leader in runs. He's been towards the bottom of the order all year and has quietly put up a super year.

He's on pace for 105 runs, 19 homers, 94 RBI, and an .837 OPS.

I love this guy!

it's because as long as you don't have a pair of sub .300 OBP guys at the top of the lineup, it doesn't matter where players hit. if your lineup consistently gets on base, players will score and knock people in regardless of where they bat.

That's what I was thinking as well, but how often does a guy that hits 6th or 7th lead his team in runs?

It's just another product of an incredibly balanced offense.

Many times a guy will lead the team in runs and ABs (Juan Pierre, hello!). DeRo is 6th on the club in AB's.

I browse the team and individual stats every day and I'm continually amazed at how close to "average" the entire starting lineup is.

If any one player is "carrying" the offense, it's Zambrano

What a terrible signing DeRosa was. 3 years, $13 million? What a waste.

Isn't it amazing what happens when you don't have .300 OBP guys at the top of the lineup anymore?

Pretty cool. It definitely speaks at least as much of this lineup as it does of DeRo, but he's one of my favorites, so :good:
