I feel like Dempster has Michael Wuertz syndrome. Gets a hitter down 0-2 and then nibbles his way into trouble.

 

like 90% of the league has this problem. i hate it. i'd rather see a guy pitch to contact or throw close balls on an 0-2 count than throw the classic face-high fastball or 58-foot slider that only about 3 major leaguers would ever swing at.

If Kosuke had been starting today, we'd still be scoreless.

 

That was an absolutely butcher play by DeRosa.

It really was. I just don't get why he was charging so hard on that ball. Stand still if you have to, let the ball roll to you and then toss it in to 2nd. The runner would still be on 1st base.

Fun fact: they've all played for the Cubs in the last 5 years.
