Roy Oswalt only lasted an inning tonight before having to leave a game with a hip injury. If it lands him on the DL, he could miss his scheduled start against the Cubs on July 18.

“It’s frustrating, for sure,” said Oswalt, who must now wait to see if he’ll eventually land on the disabled list. “I wanted to get one start in before the (All-Star) break so I’d know I wouldn’t have to worry about it after the break. We’ll see how it feels after the break and go from there.”

“Just got to wait and see,” Cooper said. “I mean, the best-case scenario I guess probably would be (a DL stint). If you do that maybe we can start him out maybe the latter part of the weekend when we come back maybe or actually that next week because it would take 14 days now. Hopefully it’s not (a DL situation).

“We get some break here over the All-Star break, so maybe we might not have to do that. We’re hoping. We’ll just wait (to see) what the doctor says.”

Oswalt also wants to wait until after the All-Star break to decide whether he must go on the DL.

“Give me a few days after the break and see how it feels then,” he said.

It looks like the Cubs will miss Oswalt for the series following the break.

With Roy Oswalt unavailable because of a left hip abductor strain, righthander Brian Moehler will start the first Astros game after the All-Star break Friday night against the Chicago Cubs at Minute Maid Park.

Moehler will be followed in the rotation by Rodriguez and Brandon Backe. Before Oswalt was hurt, Cecil Cooper had planned to start Oswalt, followed by Rodriguez and Moehler.

Based on that, the pitching match-ups for the Astros series should be..

Lilly vs Moehler

Zambrano vs Wandy

Dempster vs Backe

I like our chances in that series.
