Im surprised nobody started such a thread, but it seems like every time a starter for a bad team has a good start againt us, a thread pops up to trade for said starter. We seem to have a good reltionship with the Orioles organization, and despite all the garbage we've unloaded on them, they always seem to want more. Would Jeremy Guthrie be a good fit for our rotation if a Harden, Burnett or Sabathia deal doesnt happen? Guys like Murton, Cedeno, and Hoffpauir could end up being good fits for them. Obviously, Guthrie isnt an empty the farm system type of pitcher, but hes pushing 30, and he may be cheaper than any of the other guys on our radar.

I think that's happened like once...

Your probably right. I think it was Cook with Colorodo. The difference there being that The Rockies sucked because of injury. The Orioles may be above .500 for now, but evryone knows they wont be going anywhere any time soon, especially now that the Rays have burst out of the celler.

Do the Orioles know that?

Do they know it? Probably. Are they willing to admit it to their fans? Probably not. Harden apparently our top target, and the A's seem to be in a much better position than the O's.

i wasn't aware that 4 ER and 2 K's in 6 IP constituted a "good start"

Against the best offense in the league, and at Wrigley where we had won 14 in a row, I'd say it was a pretty good start.

If they wouldn't trade Roberts then why would they trade Guthrie? I've toured the Orioles Hangout board occasionally & they are under the allusion that if they somehow acquire FA bound Mark Teixeira, a Baltimore native...that they will then be in contention. I've never seen a set of more delusional fans than them. One to assume they would be able to get Tex & two...that they would compete w/ the yanks, jays, red sox & rays if they did somehow get him. They want to resign Roberts as a result & actually think he'll be interested in resigning.
