home runs, and then argued plays in the post season (was Tulowitzki safe at home?, etc.)

HRs and fan interference. Nothing else.

Have this during the playoffs and get rid of the useless extra umpires that have no idea what they're supposed to be doing and never get in position to make the calls they're supposed to make.

Sorry for the late reply, but it beats following the game.

Where's the "no, its completely impractical and would slow down an already reputably slow game" option?

With each team getting 162 games per season, and each team getting a guaranteed 27 outs per game (as opposed to fighting the clock and the other team), baseball is formatted for the best team to come out ahead at the end of the season. Sure, the Cubs would have lost that game in Philly and gotten swept if DeRo's HR was correctly called foul, and sure you could make the argument that if the Cubs made the playoffs because of that one game, then replay would have made a major impact on the season.

But how many more times already this season has Lou managed the team out of games (even with the best record) by pointlessly hitting and running or stealing third or double switching people out of the game who really should have stayed in and played. Between this, meltdowns of otherwise reliable pitchers, bottom-of-the-order rallies killed by the middle hitters, etc etc, baseball is unique in that WAY WAY more games are decided on the field by the play of the game than by the off chance that a missed fair-or-foul HR call would decide the outcome.

I think arguing for "the human element" is [expletive], but I just can't see all the time and effort going into replay making a notable or worthwhile impact on the game.
