I haven't purchased a Cub jersey since my Ryno jersey, so I think it's time to get a new one. I looked at the MLB Shop and Wrigleyville Sports and found what I was looking for. Then for the heck of it I looked on ebay. Well, they are quite a bit cheaper there.

So are they cheap fakes? Are they HOT? Do they just buy in bulk? Anyone have any thoughts on this? Like I mentioned, I haven't bought one in a while.

I usually buy on Ebay when I'm not in a hurry and can wait until the right one comes along. Be careful. Read the description carefully, look at the picture, check feedback, and if you have any questions, ask them before you bid.

I buy all of mine on ebay. I don't care if they are "real." I'm simply not paying $150+ for a shirt.

Ebay is my friend in this regard.

Kind of my thoughts too. Just wondering if when I got the ebay jersey I was going to be disappointed.

In regards to its authenticity, one thing I do notice is that the current MLB jerseys only have one button at the top, not two. The extra room on each side of the main tag also looks a little suspect.

But that one may be a slightly older style.

If the only thing different is 2 buttons vs 1 button that doesn't seem like too big of a deal. Here's the back.

Well, it is fake. You can tell by the lettering. The "E" really stands out. But the real issue would be how well it is made, which there's really no way of telling.

Check the seller's feedback and see how others liked their jerseys.

A couple other things to note

The number and letters are going to be a little more plastic-like than the authentics

The "walking bear" patch will have blue directly above and below it (inside the "c") where it should be white.

Also, any jersey with the MLB neck patch will not have a collar tag.

I can barely see the pics. . . . . please post bigger pics :)

Jon is right --- check the feedback.

My favorite ebay jersey is a Mitchell and Ness knock-off '84 Sandberg Road jersey. It cost $85 and I love it.

This may not really apply to baseball jersey, but one thing I noticed with soccer jerseys is that anything made in Australia or China is a fake. Check to see where the seller is, I would not buy anything unless they are based in the US.

Yeah bhogg - I bought about 5 different "Mitchell & Ness" Sandberg 84 knockoffs myself, for $50-$65 range. One of them was so ridiculous, the patch on the arm says "ML Eastern Champions." Word for word.

However, I have two pinstripes and two blues - and only two of them fit like a size 52. They are both great deals and who cares if it were the real thing. If I were to pay $250 for a jersey, that bad boy would be on my wall in a plaque.

If anyone wants one and wears a size 48 in jersey - lemmeno....

I bought one off Ebay and will be getting it tommorrow..I paid 50.00 shipped..Pretty much you get what you pay for..It is a very clever looking authentic..I just can't go out and spend 150.00 just for a jersey..This is the one I got..Patch looks liek the real one and its pretty close.. Good enough for me for 50.00

Good catch on the messed up "E" in Fukudome. It looks like the arching is off too, but it could just be the picture. The lettering also looks too satin-like.

I won't buy anything but the authentic ones from reputable dealers. Fakes are just too much trouble. Spend $50 - $100 on a shirt that may look like crap when you get it, if you get it. Even if it does look ok the fakes don't hold up like the real thing. Buttons come off. Patches unravel and bleed in the wash. I basically hate fakes if you can't tell. I am sure there are some decent ones, but I just can't see how its worth it.

I got an authentic Sandberg in 1993 for my birthday. I voluntarily retired it on Ryne Sandberg day at Wrigley over ten years later. It still makes an appearance every once in a while when I need it. It still looks exactly like it did the day I got it.

In the end, like the others have said, you get what you pay for.

Yeah, let me know. You know I am going to find some way to screw up the transaction!
