This is why I think Smoltz is awesome. He's not a primadonna who thinks he should be a starter all the time, he knows when to take it slow and when to capitalize on his own health, and he knows what he feels will be best for the team. He feels he shouldn't start because he might further hamper his ability, thus making the Braves miss his talents more. He's smart, and not some cocky pitcher who wants to be in the spotlight
