They only thing I worry about with Fukudome is the Japanese notions of what a player should and should not do based on where they bat in the lineup. For example, Fukudome didn't steal bases because he batted 3rd and middle of the order hitters just don't do that in Japan.

No, it is to get on base. It's the job of every hitter to get on base first and foremost. If you don't get on base you don't score runs. Scoring runs is almost completely dependent on other players, with the HR being the exception.

 

 

Actually, its to not make outs. if no one made an out, the game would never end. but you would score a lot of runs.
