"He's pitched well," Cubs manager Lou Piniella said. "He's starting to separate himself from the rest of the pitchers here in a role that we're looking at. He looks comfortable out there, he's throwing the ball well, he knows how to pitch.

"He was one of the kids we really wanted to take a look at here in Spring Training, and he's done quite well. I would think he would fit in very nice in the middle part of our pitching staff."

I like it. He pitched well in September, he has pitched pretty well in ST. He deserves the spot to start the season.

It looks like Lahey will either be gone or a trade will be worked out to keep him in the organization, because I don't see him grabbing a bullpen spot right now. That last spot is probably a fight between Piggy and the loser of the Dempster/Lieber/Marquis battle (if one of those 3 doesn't get traded before OD, which is somewhat probable).

You think the Orioles would like Hart back instead of Freddie Bynum?

Good god, there's a reason they suck every year now.

we shouldn't laugh too hard; they got Rocky Cherry and Scott Moore from us for the great Steve Trashsel.

True, but I think Hart will have twice the career of either of those guys.

Although they will probably be laughing when Sean Gallagher is winning a Cy Young for them in about 5 years....or not.
