Angel Guzman, rehabbing from Tommy John elbow reconstruction surgery last August on his right elbow, began throwing every other day this week. Guzman has yet to throw off a mound but is building up arm strength by increasing the distance of his throws. This week, he's throwing from 90 feet.

From Carrie Muskat. I believe Gooz had his TJS in September, not too shabby to be this far along already.

how much longer do the cubs control him? seems like he's been in minors or on DL forever.

Angel has finished 3 options but keeps getting an extra option because he hasn't completed 5 full minor or major league seasons on an active roster (due to all the injuries). Heck, because rehab should take most of this season, the Cubs will probably get that extra option again next season.
