BJ Upton played n 2004, and lost his rookie status then. However, he did not play at all in 2005. He played in 2006, and then again in 2007. Am I right in thinking that 2007 was his 3rd season, and his points are exempt? Or, since his clock started in 2004, does 2005 count against him (even though he did not play in any MLB games) and do his points now count?

Unfortunately, the season missed does count against the player. I have the same situation with Kelly Johnson.
