Never an official announcement:

Scott Eyre-R-Cubs Nov. 29 - 9:35 pm et

While the Cubs never announced it, Scott Eyre exercised his player option for 2008.

Eyre will make $4 million for a second straight season. He went from a 6.60 ERA before the break to a 0.81 mark afterwards last season, but he apparently still didn't think he'd get a J.C. Romero-type deal as a free agent.

Well, I can't say I'm a fan of the guy as a player, but he has had some bright spots with his pitching. Hopefully he can string a few more together.

If he does his floating head trick again like he did in Houston. I'll cut him a little bit of slack.

For a week.

Maybe.
